Somali police have arrested a group of people in connection with the shocking murder of a 7-year-old girl in Mogadishu’s Karaan district. Police spokesman, Colonel Sadiq Aden Doodishe, told the media that the police had arrested several people, including a woman who is a prime suspect in the murder.
He added that the girl was tortured prior to her murder and had been employed as the suspect’s maid. According to Doodishe, the woman forced the young girl to work for two years without pay. Her husband has also been arrested and charged as an accomplice.
Police in Mogadishu said they received a confession from the suspect, who admitted to banging the teenage maid’s head against a wall in a fit of rage. It was just a few days ago when Somali social media users widely circulated on the internet for a video clip showing a woman convicted of the crime to the police.
