The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, has unveiled the 9th National Development Plan which will be the basis for the realization of Somali national goals of development.
President Farmaajo explained all four main pillars of the National Strategic Plan which are Security and Politics, economic development, environment, and social development, and said the government and the people of Somalia together have the full potential to reach their ambitions.
He said it is commendable that today is presented by a development plan drafted by Somali intellectuals and experts. With this five-year National Development Plan Somalia will tackle the recurring problems that have plagued the economy and Somalia’s future.
The President pointed out that his government will emphasize justice and social equality, rule of law, transparency and good governance to fulfill National Plans for the coming years.
Somalia’s National Development Plan for the next 5 years is developed by the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development and approved by the Federal Cabinet in September this year. The plan focuses on important areas such as alleviating poverty, advancing infrastructure, enhancing public institutions, implementing an inclusive political system, strengthening the law, justice and ensuring the security of the country.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mahdi Mohamed Guled (Khadar), the Governor of Banaadir Region, Mr. Omar Mohamud Mohamed (Filish), Ministers, Members of Parliament, academics and civil society.
