Somali security forces said they have arrested Alshabab members in Baraawe, the administrative city of South west state of Somalia during a pre planned security operation. The state media reported the suspects were attempting to harm the civilians.
The security forces revealed they had intelligence reports about the detained Alshabab members before the security forces launched the operation against them. But, the security forces did not clarify the exact number of the detained suspects.
The Somali security chief in Baraawe, Omar Yaalow Abdi (Kala Dire) who was leading the operation, told the media that the army is committed to strengthen the security in the region and will proceed with such operations targeting Al Shabaab members.
He praised the residents for their sincere cooperation with the national security agencies to restore peace and stability and remove Alshabab from their final hideouts.
