Somali Security forces arrest prominent Sheikh for hate preaching and extremist ideology

Somali security forces detained prominent Sheik Mustafe Ali Anod in Elasha Biyaha in connection with spreading Alshabab’s ideology, according to a government statement. The security forces made the arrest at a time Mustafe Anod attempted to escape from the security agencies.

The ministry of information revealed that the Sheikh aimed his “hate preaches” to influence the youth and to mislead them. The government’s statement furthermore said Mustafe Anod will be brought to court to face the charges against him.

The government also repeated its warning to the public to avoid spreading of what it called “hate preaching” and extremist ideology. The arrest of the Sheikh came at a time the federal government suspended a large number of social media accounts for allegedly spreading Alshaba’s ideology in recent weeks.
