Somalia army kill 7 Alshabab fighters in Lower Juba

Somalia army, especially US-trained Danab Special Forces and Jubbaland Darawish forces carried out an anti-al Shabaab operation in the Lower Jubba region, killing at least 7 Alshabab members including a senior leader, and 5 injured.

The operation was conducted in Af-Madow district and the areas near Mido village , according to the fifth unit’s 16th Battalion of Danab Special Force’s commander Arab Dheeg Ahmed, who said a senior leader was killed in the operation and was identified as Asad. However, the commander didn’t disclose any casualties from their side.

Commander Arab Dheeg stated that the purpose of the operation was to destroy al-Shabaab bases in the area where they captured 4 AK-47 rifles and one BKM rifle. Al-Shabaab continues to have a presence in some rural areas, from which they have launched multiple retaliatory assaults in Somalia and its neighboring countries.

Since the start of 2023, Somalia forces have been attempting to terminate Alshabab with the strengthened alliance of its international partners and local militias. Since President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud declared an all-out war against the group last year.
