According to a statement issued by the foreign ministry, Somalia strongly condemns the bomb attacks that occurred in Uganda’s capital on Tuesday.
The Horn of Africa state affirms that it stands with the Ugandan government and people in confronting what they have described as “Terrorist activities’ ‘ which undermines its security, stability and wellbeing and development.
The statement reads, Somalia as a victim of similar terrorist attacks, extends sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wishing the wounded a speedy recovery. Somalia also called on African states to make an organised effort to mitigate future terrorist attacks in the continent.
Police attributed Tuesday’s attacks to a local group linked to the ADF, the Allied Democratic Forces, a Ugandan-born rebellion active in neighboring eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), before the Islamic Group claimed responsibility in the evening.
