Somalia evacuates 51 nationals from Ukraine

Somalia government has confirmed that fifty-one Somali nationals have been helped to leave Ukraine. In a statement, Somalia foreign ministry said the Somali nationals have safely reached three countries including Germany, Romania and Poland.


According to officials, forty of these people reached Romania after their documentations were completed while Germany and Poland hosted four and seven of them respectively.


The Ministry said it has facilitated 24 Somalis to acquire documentation in the past 48 hours. The government also urged its nationals who were pursuing studies in Ukraine to apply for consideration in Romania, Serbia and Hungary adding they will also receive consular services in the host countries.


Most African states are evacuating their nationals from Ukraine as the Russian invasion intensifies and enters the second week.
