The Federal government of Somalia revealed a new plan towards the ongoing war against Alshabab, declaring the Southwest state to be where the second phase of Anti Al Shabaab war will start, without disclosing the date for security purposes.
President Hassan Sheikh noted that the government had prepared many troops to liberate al-Shabaab-controlled areas in the country and officially announced the second phase will begin in the Southwest State of Somalia.
He said his troops gained more experience than when they first entered the war in Galmudug and Hirshabelle states. They have learned the tactics of al-Shabab and their morale tells them that the Somalia government is capable of defeating Alshabab.
The President also stated that the young men fighting for Al-Shabaab still have the option of surrendering and being pardoned by the government.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has urged parents whose children are fighting alongside the al-Shabab group to call their children before they are killed in ongoing operations.
