Somalia’s Lower House Parliamentary Speaker, Adan Mohamed Nur ( Adan-Madobe) has declared a new offensive against Al Shabaab in the South West State while on a visit to Hudur, the capital of the Bakool region.
He called on local residents to join the fight against Al Shabaab and extend support to the Somali security agencies in order to defeat and remove the group from the region and told the residents that he guaranteed their lives would improve if they were able to shake-off Al Shabaab.
Bakool has been under the siege of Alshabab for more than a decade and losing it could be a heavy loss to the group. The speaker clearly said the operations will be part of the anti Alshabab operations that are similarly underway in many parts of the country.
Since President Hassan Sheikh declared the total war against Alshabab, the national armed forces claimed to have killed hundreds of Alshabab fighters and liberated strategic villages.
