A military court in Mogadishu sentenced a 60-year-old training instructor from the Jaalla Siyad military academy to 15 years in prison after he was found guilty of passing information from the Army to the Alshabab.
Security agencies stated that Abdi Azis Hussein Noor Mursal was falsely claiming the rank of lieutenant colonel. but, the fact that he was a second Lieutenant. The previous government had exposed him during the Army’s registration. Allegedly, he began cooperating with Al-Shabaab out of rage over the investigation.
He is the second government official to be discovered collaborating with Al-Shabaab. Two weeks ago, the same military court sentenced a former army officer to death for his role in facilitating terror attacks on behalf of Al Shabaab.
The federal government of Somalia said on several occasions they will hold accountable anyone who cooperates with Alshabab at any level and will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
