Somalia Minister of Agriculture Participates In Dakar 2 Summit on Agriculture production in Senegal



The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the federal republic of Somalia Ahmed Madobe Nunow, attended the Dakar 2 Summit, where more than 20 top heads of African governments, donors interested in African production issues, Africa’s development exhibition were guests And hosted by the senegalese government.

Minister Ahmed Bashi, who gave a speech at the meeting stated that The Somali government’s priority is to promote the growth of the country’s production, especially in terms of self-sufficiency in food and irrigation, and he also added that the government of somalia have prepared a complete 5-year plan, which aims to ensure official food security to fund the production of the country.

The heads of state of Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Mauritania, Zambia and Somalia at the AfDB co-organized conference on food sovereignty, all emphasised the importance of food security for political stability and security of their nations.

The summit with the theme ‘Feed Africa: Food Sovereignty and Resilience’, co-organized by the African Development Bank AfDB noted that some 283 million Africans are hungry as the continent is home to a third of the world’s 850 million people living with hunger. The three-day Summit in Diamniadio, near Dakar, the Senegalese capital ends Friday, January 27.
