The finance minister of Somalia, Elmi Mohamud Nur who is now in the United states of America for the annual International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank meeting has sat with senior officials that include the Executive Director of the World Bank office (Africa Group 1) Dr. Floribert Ngaruko.
The pair discussed the various financial reform issues and the general state of Somalia’s economy. Minister Elmi also met with the representatives of the Russian government – one of Somalia’s key development partners which the government has in the recent past been negotiating for debt reliefs.
The finance minister noted that the Spring Meetings is an opportunity to reflect, engage and plan the way forward with partners. Underlined that the IMF is a valuable active partner in Somalia’s economic reform journey
According to the plan.the meeting is scheduled for a week where several other meetings focusing on the economic situation of Somalia will be discussed.
