Somalia MP Mohmoud Boonow is dead

Somalia’s federal Member of Parliament, Mohamud Mohamed Boonow, died this morning in Baidoa, the capital of South West state. Neither the family nor the federal government has revealed the cause of his death.

Boonoow was first elected to parliament in 2012 and has since then been serving in the same capacity. He served as state minister for security under former prime minister Hassan Ali khaire. He also served as constitutional affairs and reconciliation minister in 2010 when current president Mohamed Farmaajo was prime minister.

Before joining elective politics, the late Mohmoud Mohamed Buunow was a well known businessman in south west state of Somalia.

The speaker of the house of representatives Mursal Sheekh has extended condolence to the family, Friends and the nation for the loss of their loved one. He described him as a great pillar that had contributed a lot to the nation.
