According to a statement by the military, Somalia government forces launched operations in villages outside Kismayo town where at least three al-Shabaab fighters were killed and several others injured following clashes with Somalia military in Lower Jubba region.
The statement stated that the forces recovered weapons, ammunition, and medical kits in the villages. Alshabab has not yet commented on the matter concerning losing fighters in the battlefield.
However, the government also did not disclose if there are casualties on their side for the public. But, reiterated their commitment to intensify war on Alshabab which controls dozens of small towns and villages in southern Somalia.
The group lost control of Somali capital, Mogadishu in 2011 after fierce fighting with Somali military backed by African Union troops. Their intention is to establish an Islamic state for their own interpretation.
