The Opposition presidential candidates of Somalia have called for more anti government protests. The candidates announced that they will continue protesting against president Farmajo until a new president is elected.
The council which unites 15 presidential candidates calling itself the Council of Presidential Candidates (CPC) on Saturday urged the UN Security Council to break its silence on ending Farmajo’s extended stay in office.
The opposition candidates who include two former presidents and a former prime minister among others also urged the Security Council to investigate circumstances which it said amounted to attempted assassinations of their members.
Last Friday, Government security forces blocked a rally for candidates at Daljirka Dahsoon in Mogadishu. Reports say there have been unspecified number of deaths and injuries.
