The Council of Presidential Candidates (CPC) in Somalia has once again put blame on President Mohamed Farmaaajo for seeking more time in office through a deal with FMS leaders. They said the President has shown his true intent which is that he doesn’t want to conduct a free and fair election in Somalia and the only option he has for him to stay in office was through a political deal with Federal Member State leaders and other stakeholders.
Farmajo has in recent days bore the brunt of attacks from the 15 member team led by former Presidents Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who called on him to resign after the expiry of his term.
They accused him of seeking to extend his tenure through member states and also failing to commit to talks designed to pave the way for transparent and credible elections.
The opposition presidential candidates also believe that the presidential election is more likely to delay referring to the lack of acceleration of the electoral process in the country
