Somalia PM calls on Mogadishu civil servants to enhance service delivery

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre visited the headquarters of the Banadir regional Administration which is tasked with providing services to the people living in the capital.The city is administered by the Federal Government directly through the appointment of a governor who also doubles up as the mayor of the city.

This is his first visit to the regional offices of the city administration since the appointment of Yussuf Hussein Madaale as the Governor and Mayor of Banadir region. He replaced Omar Mohamud Filish who was appointed as the head of the Somali Capital and the headquarters of the Federal Government of Somalia by Former President Abdullahi Mohamed Farmajo.

The visit to the government institutions by the Premier was aimed at ensuring accountability and improving the work ethic among public employees.The spokesperson of the Banadir Regional Administration Salah Omar Hassan said the leaders discussed ways of restoring confidence in public institutions by focusing on civil servants’ work ethic and accountability.

The Prime Minister called on the new regional administration to work closely with the Federal government to tackle some of the challenges facing area residents.The leaders also discussed the latest development on Mogadishu’s Security, seeking a solution for crime and militant activities.

He conducted a tour of the different departments of the city administration and listened to reports from the officials and employees, urging them to speed up the priority services for the community.

He called on the implementation of a structured system of service delivery which instills confidence among the people of Mogadishu.
