The Prime minister of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Rooble ordered the National army forces to be placed under his command. He said the president seemingly decides to destroy government institutions, and with his constitutional mandate already having ended.
The angry exchange between the two top officials was sparked over the country’s sluggish preparations for elections. The dispute alarmed international observers, prompting the US embassy in Mogadishu to urge Somalia’s leaders to de-escalate tensions.
On Monday, The office of the Prime minister identifies Farmajo as a “former” President and wants to incite political crises in Somalia. On Sunday, the Prime minister clarified that no particular candidate will be permitted to have influence on the ongoing elections while referring to President Farmajo.
While Farmaajo believes Roble had deviated from the rules of the electoral process, he tore apart the mandate of the electoral commissions and violated their independence and accusation the Prime minister denied.
