Somalia Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble announced that Somalia’s federal government would release $11.7 million as part of the emergency response to the devastating fire that destroyed Hargeisa’s primary commercial market. The donation was collected from the government and private sectors.
Officials said most of the donation will be sent on monday to bank accounts that were assigned for the support of the victims. According to the national support of the wahen victims, the initial estimates between 1.5 to 2 billion U.S dollars.
The President of Somaliland Muse Bihi expressed gratitude to the government of Somalia for their support to the victims who have lost their businesses.
According to local media, at least 28 people were also injured in the fire, but there have been no reported fatalities.
