Security forces in Somalia have apprehended an individual believed to be linked to the recent mortar attack near the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu, which occurred on Tuesday. The attack resulted in the loss of a father, a son, and a daughter from a family of six, while the mother and two other daughters sustained injuries.
The mortar strikes targeted multiple neighborhoods within the city, with one of the projectiles hitting a residential property located in close proximity to the offices of the security ministry.
Following the incident, the Somalia Police spokesperson, Sadiq Adan Ali Doodishe, stated that security forces conducted a targeted operation in the Barwaqa neighborhood of the Deyniile district, the area from which the mortars were fired. It was during this operation that the initial suspect was apprehended.
Upon investigation, law enforcement officials discovered remnants of the mortars and various unused items at the scene. However, no particular group has claimed responsibility for this reprehensible act at present.
