The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has talked about the Lasanod tension for the first time since it started a few days ago. He called on the people to lower tension and avoid insecurity activities as Somali people have had enough turbulence in the last decades.
Hassan Sheikh asked the Somaliland government to solve the situation in a peaceful manner and desist from using live ammunition against the demonstrators over the rising assassinations in Lasanod. President Hassan Sheikh also sent condolences to the families and friends who lost their loved ones during the unrest.
Several people were reported dead and more injured after security forces and protestors clashed in Lasanod who were demanding from the Somaliland government to react and stop the frequent assassinations in the region.
However, the Somaliland government seems to be providing any possible means to control the situation as key ministers are already present in the region to have separate meetings with the people. Somaliland officials pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice and called its people to control their anger.
