President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has reinstated the full army ranks of a former Banadir Police Commissioner who was sacked in April last year for ordering parliamentarians to ditch a vote that sought to extend the previous government’s mandate for two years.
Sadak Omar, who is currently a Member of Parliament has been restored to the rank of Brigadier General and his full military rights. Sadak John found himself on the wrong side of the Farmaajo administration after he declared in April 2021 that he was suspending a parliamentary session where members were to vote to prolong former President Mohamed Abdullahi’s term for two years.
He then reprimanded MPs in a direct address for asking for an extension and advised them to seek a fresh mandate through indirect elections, however, he was sacked less than an hour later via Twitter by the Somali Police Commissioner Gen. Abdi Hassan Mohamed Hijar.
