

Somalia President Mohamed Abdulahi Farmajo, has received his first dose of the Oxford Astrazeneca Vaccine at the state house earlier today. Villa Somalia said this will be an example as the government and partners seek to save many lives by protecting frontline workers, elderly and patients with the pandemic.
The country’s health Ministry Fuazia Abukar also took her first dose of the vaccine to encourage the public to follow suit. Somalia received the first batch of doses of the Oxford Astrazeneca Vaccine on Monday morning, marking a crucial step in the fight against the virus as deaths continue to rise.
Somalia’s health ministry said it has conducted extensive mass vaccination drives for deadly vaccine-preventable diseases in the past, such as measles and polio, and will rely on experience gained through these campaigns.
According to the federal ministry for health, already trained 2,000 health workers have recieved training on administering the vaccine.
