The President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has again made clear that his administration is totally against the ongoing armed conflict in LasAnod in the second week and regrets that many people including civilians were killed.
Hassan Sheikh believes the only way the conflict could stop is for all sides to adhere to the ceasefire, exercise restraint, and engage in constructive dialogue to establish a pathway towards a peaceful resolution.
Also, he told the Somaliland government to listen carefully to wishes of the LasAnod people and resolve their differences peacefully through dialogue while recounting that the Somali people have had enough experience of armed conflicts.
In separate statements, All warring sides affirmed their commitment to accept a full ceasefire despite the conflict still underway, each side accused the other of breaking the ceasefire.
However, Somaliland authorities said they will open peace talks with the locals by sending traditional elders to the region in order to achieve stability and peace in Lascanod. A call denied by the local elders of the city.
