Mohamed Hussein Rooble, the Prime minister of Somalia held talks at his office with the newly appointed NISA chief Bashir Mohamed Goobe and other top security officers. Government officials said the meeting was held to strengthen national security, protect citizens’ rights including Ikran Talili’s case, electoral security, and counter-terrorism operations.
During the meeting, PM Roble directed the Armed Forces courts to conduct an immediate investigation into the case of Ikraan Tahalil Farah, who NISA previously said to have been killed by Al Shabaab even though the group denied any involvement.
The Prime Minister instructed the new interim Director-General of NISA, Gen. Bashir Mohamed Gobe, and police commanders to assist one another in carrying out its duties. The meeting comes as President Farmajo publicly rejected the dismissal of his political confidante and NISA director Fahad Yassin and directed him to resume his duties.
Some of the federal member states including Jubaland and Puntland have backed the Prime minister’s decision to suspend Fahad Yasin and direct the National intelligence to release a reliable and comprehensive report on this case.
