The Prime minister of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Rooble today held a virtual meeting with the federal member state leader over the ongoing electoral process for the upper house in Somalia. He praised Jubaland and South west states for being the first two states to kick start the electoral process.
Rooble reiterated the importance of this forthcoming elections in Somalia and advised the remaining federal member states including Galmudug, Puntland and Hirshabelle to accelerate the exercise to avoid further election delays.
Meanwhile, the federal member state leaders also thanked the prime minister for his decision regarding the electoral committee from Somaliland representatives. On May 27 Somalia Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble alongside leaders from the regional states agreed to meet regularly to hold free and fair polls in the country.
Jubaland and Southwest states have already elected their MPs for the federal upper house. Galmudug is also expected to take a similar decision to conduct the election anytime soon. Somalia will be in election within these coming months the federal electoral commission released a new election timeline.
