

Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud has been fired from the office barely a year after he was appointed to the post. In a statement, Prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble appointed Abdisaid Muse Ali to replace Abdirizak who was appointed for the post on 19th November 2020.
In a sharp rejoinder following the sacking, Mohamed termed the dismissal as a surprise but said he had earlier submitted his resignation. The circumstances surrounding the changes remain unclear.
Mohamed Abdirizak underscored he had disagreements with the top leaders. He mentioned differences over “work-related issues” which he says he complained about. He was told they will be resolved though he didn’t want to go into details since he was expecting them to get resolved.
Mohamed Abdirizak extended a heartfelt wish to his successor and asked all diplomats to work with him to execute his duties in office.
