

According to UNICEF, Somalia received 1.6 Million vaccine doses from Sweden and the Czech Republic. The vaccines were donated by both countries through the COVAX Facility. So far, around 2.3 million people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and over 1.9 million people partially vaccinated.
Somalia government officials extended gratitude to Swedan and Czech Republic for supporting Somalia to protect against COVID-19 and said it will save lives, enable them to create more equity between Somalis of different backgrounds, and contribute to their national health goals to ensure they leave no one behind.
Meanwhile, UNICEF officials said Somalia has made tangible progress in procuring safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines and the Organization will continue to work closely with the Government and partners to ensure communities are aware of the benefits of being vaccinated.
