The Minister of Education of Somalia Farah in a meeting with his counterpart of egypt signed an agreement on higher education cooperation with the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ayman Aashur. The two sides agreed on the importance of the two countries’ collaboration in enhancing the education standard.
Officials also announced that the Egyptian government will give Somalia 450 Scholarships in various fields every year that include University level and technical skills.
The Minister of Education for Somalia Farah Sheikh thanked Egypt for the educational assistance it provided to Somalia, stating that this is the largest scholarship Somalia has received from Egypt.
It is also part of the agreement that Somali students studying in Egypt will be treated like Egyptian citizens, Minister Farah promised that the selection of students who will receive the scholarships will come through competition and examination.
On the other side, Egypt promised that this year they will increase the number of teachers sent to Somalia, who will work in all the regional governments and also participate in the training offered to Somali teachers.
