The Minister of Defense of the federal Republic of Somalia Abdulkadir Mohamed Noor, received weapons and military hardware from the US Embassy in Mogadishu for the Somali National Army especially Danab Army which the United states of America trains.
The Minister of Defense thanked the United States Government for their support and said this is a message to other countries that the Somali army can be trusted for anything and The support comes at a critical time for Somali forces as they boost their capabilities to combat al-Shabaab
The Somali military said that most of the supplies have already been sent to the front lines of the anti-Shabaab offensive in Hirshabelle and Galmudug.
The US Ambassador to Somalia Larry Andre, on the occasion of handing over the weapons, military equipment and vehicles to the minister said that this donation was intended to combat the Al-shabab group.
The Ministry of Defense has recently strengthened the offensive against the Al-Shabaab as the group has now been liberated from many areas in the country, it has also strengthened and enhanced the Somali National Armed Forces.
The weapons are marked and registered pursuant to the Federal Government of Somalia’s Weapons and Ammunition Management policy and will significantly increase the lethality and mobility of the SNA-Danab units participating in these operations.
