Somalia’s Health ministry has rolled out doses of Sinopharm vaccine donated by China to boost the war against Covid-19 pandemic in the Horn of African nation.
Deputy health minister Ahmed Hussein received his first jab of the exercise in Mogadishu during the launch of the vaccines. Chinese ambassador to Somalia, Qin Jian and embassy staff also received Sinovac injection.
The roll out doses of Sinopharm vaccine donated by China began on Wednesday. Somalia received 200,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine.
The vaccines arrived at the capital Aden Adde International Airport on Tuesday and were received by the Health Ministry.
As of Wednesday the Horn of African nation reported 271 COVID-19 cases raising the total number of confirmed cases to 12,837. Atleast 32 people have succumbed to the virus raising the total number of fatalities to 656.
76 patients recovered from the disease pushing the total number of recoveries to 5,346.
