According to Mogadishu’ Mayor, Major gains were made against terrorism after security forces dismantled a terror network and confiscated several vehicles and weapons in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
At a state media briefing, the Mayor of Mogadishu and Governor of Banadir region, Yusuf Hussein Jimale, added that the security forces also seized five residential houses rented by Alshabab fighters.
The Governor stated that similar operations would be carried out until the Somali capital and the entire country are rid of “extremists”.
Government forces have continued to make gains in countering Al-Shabaab and it is widely believed that the Al-Qaeda affiliated group is losing grip due to the heightened operations that have been going on for the last several weeks.
