General Odowa Yusuf Rage, commander of the Somali Armed Forces, has provided information about an operation that was carried out by the National Army on the outskirts of Janale in the Lower Shabelle region.
At least 10 Alshabab fighters were killed, and 13 others wounded in the operation which targeted Al-Shabab tax offices and bases in the village of Kili-Jiido under Janale district, according to the SNA Commander.
Rage further indicated that his team was able to demolish Al-Shabaab posts that had been set up by the group, and recover various weapons. The Commander vowed that they would continue carrying out operations against Al-Shabaab in the region, in an effort of ridding the place of terrorism.
The operation by the Somali Armed Forces comes amidst continued air offensives by US troops on the Al-Qaeda-linked group in some parts of the country.
