Somalia and Turkey foreign affairs ministers spoke on phone on friday and discussed the current situations in both countries, especially the Somali nationals who were found frozen to death at the Greek-Turkey border.
The Turkish foreign affairs minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said such pushbacks are unacceptable and the EU remains silent on the issue. He reiterated that Turkiye will put human rights violations on the agenda in international platforms.
Cavusoglu conveyed his condolences to the Somali community for those killed earlier this week in Somalia’s attacks. On the other side, Somalia’s FM Muse Ali conveyed well wishes to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and first lady Emine Erdogan after they tested positive for the coronavirus last week.
Muse Ali also expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by Turkiye to his citizens who survived the tragedy.
