The Government of Somalia has threatened to begin procedures for establishing a standing claims commission with the AU to hold to account perpetrators for Kenyan airstrikes against civilians in southern Somalia.
Somalia affirmed that it has raised the same issue on numerous occasions with the government of Kenya and the African Union (AU). According to Somalia, its deteriorating ties with Kenya has been contributed by the failure of the Kenyan government’s inability to uphold the standard expected of KDF.
The horn of Africa state ‘strongly condemned the continual Kenyan airstrikes that kill and maim civilians in Somalia. Somalia said that the manner KDF is operating in Somalia is becoming provocative and indiscriminate.
The remarks of Somali government comes barely a day after Kenyan airstrikes allegedly killed one person and wounded five others. According to residents, the missiles fired by Kenyan forces hit a family of six, killing the mother and injuring five children.
