Somalia’s Fourth National Consultative Council meetings officially opens in Mogadishu

The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has presided over the fourth national consultative council meeting in Mogadishu where top federal government officials and federal member states leaders attended.

According to villa Somalia, today’s discussions on the table center around on Judicial federalism and delimitation of powers at State and Federal level. They are also expected to discuss the ongoing offensive against al Shabab, drought relief, and distribution of the country’s resources between the different levels of government.

The leaders are also expected to discuss the one-year extension for President Abdiaziz Laftagaren following clashes in Baidoa between Southwest state forces and militia loyal to the opposition candidate. With the exception of President Deni, all of Somalia’s regional leaders have extended their mandates by one year.
