Somalia’s Galkayo military court has executed by firing squad an Al-Shabaab operative in a public square in Galkayo, the capital of the Mudug region.
Abdullahi Ali Adam was sentenced to death by the armed forces court in 2020 after he was found guilty of committing several assassinations and bombings in the Mudug capital. He was also convicted of killing Sheikh Abdiweli Ali Elmi Yare, in 2018.
Senior officers drawn from the military court and authorities from the Galkayo administration were present to witness the execution. Abdillahi Ali Adan joined the growing list of Al-Shabaab operatives, now numbering 8, felled in the last two weeks by the armed forces court for the atrocities committed against innocent people.
