The Deputy speaker of Somalia’s Galmudug state house of representatives Abdullahi Hirsi has denounced his suspension from the house with other regional lawmakers. He stated that the Speaker of the house who made the decision has offended the regional constitution and the bylaws of the house.
The regional Speaker Mohamed Nour Ga’al informed his deputy and other members of the house to not attend for the next four sessions, but his deputy believes that the speaker of the house is infringing the parliamentary procedures.
The decision of the Speaker came barely a few days after a number of MPs led by his deputy opposed a project approved by the house which they said did not meet the standard of the house procedure to approve it.
Some of the regional authorities told the members of the house to avoid inciting constitutional crises and dividing the members of the house.
