Somalia’s Galmudug state government’s Minister of information, Ahmed Falagle has provided More information regarding the resurgent tribal fighting in some parts of central Somalia’s northern Galgaduud region.
The minister described the conflict as “Unfortunate” and called the warring sides for peace and to avoid insecurity activities.
Minister Falagle said the source of fighting in the Galgaduud region stemmed from squabbles over water and grazing land, a situation exacerbated by the severe drought that has hit hard areas in the region.
The minister expressed his sympathies to the families of those who died in the fighting and wished those who were injured a quick recovery.
He further emphasized how the Galmudug administration had intervened to avert the situation by sending its forces to quell the fighting that was threatening to explode into full-scale war.
At least 20 people were killed on Sunday in the Dhabad district of Galgaduud following the conflict that has been raging since Saturday.
