Somalia’s Hirshabelle state President urges warring clans to end conflict in Middle Shabelle

The president of Hirshabeelle state of Somalia, Ali Guudlaawe has issued a statement about tribal fighting that occurred in the middle shabelle. He asked the warring sides for an unconditional ceasefire

The president described the clan clashes that erupted in the region as “a tragedy” and encouraged the clans to stop fighting as the regional forces carrying out military operations targeted Alshabab who have hideouts in the Middle Shabelle.

However, President Guudlaawe sent condolences to the families and friends who lost their loved ones due to the clan clashes and wished a quick recovery to those wounded in the fighting.

The region has experienced similar clan clashes in the past years that caused the death of many people. The federal government of Somalia and regional administrations pledged on several occasions to find a lasting solution to these recurrent tribal fighting but the problem still remains unsolved.
