Somalia’s Jubaland military court has executed on Saturday two former Somali soldiers for the murder of people in Kismayo, the administrative city of Jubaland state. The two soldiers were identified as Wayrah Khaliif Yusuf and Yusuf Hussein Abdi.
Wayrah Khalif was convicted for the murder of Haliimo Ali Roobow on 25 Novermber 2020 while Yusuf Hussein was found guilty in connection with the murder of a follow Somali soldier Abdullahi Ali Suuli in 2021.
In June 2022, the regional court sentenced the duo to death over their crimes after being found guilty of ‘willful’ murder. The execution came after the regional court implemented similar capital punishment few days ago.
