The new president of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has appointed the first two officials of his government after he assumed office on Monday. The president appointed Hussein Sheikh Mohamud, a former senator as the chief of staff at the presidency to manage the daily activities at Villa Somalia.
Hussein Sheikh Mohamud in the 10th Parliament, was also the Secretary-General of the constitutional review committee for both houses of the 10th Parliament. He holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies and is currently pursuing a PhD in Peace and Public Administration.
The President also picked Mohamed Amin Sheikh Osman as the new Deputy Chief of Staff at The Villa Somalia. He was also a former Senator in the Upper House and Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the House, also served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Somali embassy in Kenya.
While issuing the appointments, the new President wished them well in their new posts and urged them to serve the nation efficiently and with integrity.
