The President of Somalia’s Puntland state, Saed Abdillahi Deni has strongly criticized Somalia’s President stance on Las Anod tension, accusing him of wanting Somalia to return to the centralized system and legalize Sool and Sanaag for Somaliland.
The regional state leader noted that these are part of the reasons his administration denied to sign the recently concluded federal government and its member states’ meeting outcome in Mogadishu, underlined that Hassan Sheikh aimed the federal member states to approve the constitution without debating the Somaliland’s borders and legalize Sool as part of it.
Last friday, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia sent a peaceful message to the people of Las Anod to refrain from involving insecurity activities and asked the Somaliland government to manage the situation in a peaceful manner.
He recommended President Bihi to send notable figures to talk to the people in order to restore the normalcy of the city which in the last few days were calm and no protests were reported after Somaliland army returned to their barracks.
