Somalia’s Southwest state administration has suspended cooperation with the central government after they accused the federal government ministry of finance of violating the previous agreements.
The South West Finance Minister, Ahmed Mohamed Hussein, said that the new federal Minister of Finance, Dr. Elmi M. Nur had taken several steps that led to the termination of cooperation between the Ministries of Finance of the regional governments.
South West’s finance minister also said that Dr. Nur did not consult regional governments, as a result of which they stopped the Ministries of Finance of the country’s regional governments. An accusation the federal minister of finance has yet to speak on.
The suspension of cooperation comes barely a week after the PM and President traveled to regional capitals to shore up support with the federal government.
