Abdikarim Hussein Guled, the Special Presidential Envoy for Somaliland talks from Somalia, has engaged in a meeting with Mike Nithavrianakis, the newly appointed British Ambassador to Somalia which took place in the capital city of Mogadishu.
The primary focus of the discussion centered around expediting the anticipated talks between Somalia and Somaliland. Both the Ambassador and the Special Envoy expressed their shared commitment to advancing the negotiation process, with the Ambassador affirming his support for this initiative.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Somalia government and its people, Guled extended appreciation to the United Kingdom for its unwavering support. Additionally, he emphasized the readiness of Mogadishu to resume dialogue with Hargeisa in the near future.
Somaliland and Somalia united in 1960. But, that unification lasted for 30 years after Somaliland decided to regain its sovereignty as an independent state citing dissatisfaction of unity with Somalia.
