Somaliland government has raised accusations against Somalia’s Puntland state for fueling the ongoing conflict in Las Anod. In a new report, Somaliland authorities revealed that the regional administration of Somalia is sending more troops to the border with Somaliland.
The authorities of Somaliland believe the dispatching a large number of armed personnel to the border could only cause armed conflict between Somaliland and Somalia. The government of Somaliland underpinned that the situation in Laas-Anod is not a demonstration of ‘social grievances’, but rather a premeditated plan by Somalia to destabilize Somaliland.
Somaliland further calls on the international community to urge the Federal Government of Somalia and the regional administration of Puntland to withdraw their forces from Somaliland’s border.
