On Tuesday, a sucide explosion happened near Hamarweyne’s police station in Mogadishu. Residents say the explosion was heard almost in the vicinity of Hamarweyne district. According to the police, a man with a suicide vest tried to enter the station but was stopped by the police. He threw the vest and ran away resulting in a huge blast. Number of casualties are yet to be confirmed.
Initial reports say, the police later apprehended the suspect of the attack. Lots of smoke and fumes have skyrocketed after the blast. Eyewitnesses reported that they heard gunfire fired by the police forces of the government.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for this attack, but the situation in Somalia is chaitic since the incumbent President legitimacy term ended on 8th February and opposition candidates announced they will not recognise him as the legitimate President while they also called for more anti government protests.
