Suluhu summons emergency cabinet meeting over air crash

Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Monday called for an emergency cabinet meeting to discuss the recent airplane crash that killed 19 people.

Tanzania’s leaders have convened the meeting to take a cursory look at the plane crash incident which claimed 19 lives.
Suluhu expressed as tragic the sad occurrence with messages of condolence to families of the victims.

The Tanzanian government also rewarded the country’s fisherman Jackson Majaliwa, who was among the first responders at the scene of the jet that crashed into Lake Victoria on Sunday.

The passenger plane crashed into Lake Victoria on 6 November as it attempted to land in the lakeside town of Bukoba.
CBA TV earlier reported that technical advisers from aircraft manufacturer ATR were already in the town to investigate the crash.

Also, French civil aviation safety investigation experts were also deployed to the area, as well as Tanzanian experts who are conducting an independent investigation into the crash.
The aircraft was operated by Precision Air, Tanzania’s largest privately owned passenger airline. It has been operating on the Dar es Salaam-Bukoba route since 1994.
