Suspected Al-Shabaab militants on Tuesday evening kidnapped four people in Mandera County of Kenya. The four have been identified as 40-year-old patient-Moulid Abdi, Hassan Shaaban who was the driver, Abdirashid Billow Hussein and Aden Dai, both staff at Lafey hospital.
According to the police report, the four who were two paramedics based at Lafey Sub-County hospital, a patient, and the driver of the ambulance they were travelling in, were heading to Elwak hospital for referral services.
Police said that they were carjacked by suspected militia and driven towards Somalia through Komar qota near Wante.
The incident that happened on Tuesday evening around 5.50 pm was reported by Ahmed Robie, a staff member at Lafey Sub-County hospital.
Their whereabouts are unknown as efforts to reach them have been futile.
