There have been clashes between Somalia’s federal government forces and Alshabab fighters in Beledweyne which left civilians dead including three siblings who died after a motershell hit their residential home.
Sources said they were hit by mortershel at their residential house when the two sides fought in Howl-Wadaag village in the outskirts of Beletweyne town. The children’s family reportedly lives near a Djibouti army base in the area.
Beledweyne security officials have not yet commented on the attack but security was reported to have been restored some moments after the attack. The federal government forces said they have intensified military operations against the group and are committed to clean them from their remaining hideouts.
